I think God gave us dogs so we could know, in a small way, what unconditional love feels like.

Yup, she is "just a dog", but then again I am "just a man."

Thanks for that. Two weeks ago we had to put down our dog...the one my wife picked up as a puppy on the side of the road just before we were married. One of the rural area black dog with a white spot types.

Wonderful dog...was their for the birth of both of our children (one now 3 and one 6 months)...and she was great with both of them.

It was immediate and very unexpected...I felt like a heel for being so upset about loosing "just a dog"

Wow another great thread absolutely ruined by bilge crap again.

Wonder when the mods will have had enough of having the top forums screwed up by those who can't keep the crap where it belongs.

I'm going to try to bring this thread back on track.

I never understood the "just a dog" thing either. At the end of the day having my buddy, my dog, jumping up and down and showering me with joy simply because I'm home is just the ticket to bring me back on track.

If you want to know what is TRULY important in life, watch your dog. Eating, sleeping, playing with a simple toy or tennis ball, being with "their people" .... dogs really do know that the best things in life don't cost a fortune.

Menzies why don't you just STFU. You cast the first stone then bitch about it when called on it.

I'd cry for my present dog and did for my last one of 13 years.
I'd could never find a reason to cry for you.
Is that plain enough for ya?

Why dogs are better than women

  • Dogs don't cry
  • Dogs love it when your friends come over
  • Dogs don't care if you use their shampoo
  • Dogs think you sing great
  • A dog's time in the bathroom is confined to a quick drink
  • Dogs don't expect you to call when you're running late. The later you are, the more excited dogs are to see you
  • Dogs will forgive you for playing with other dogs
  • Dogs don't notice if you call them another dog's name
  • Dogs are excited by rough play
  • Dogs don't mind if you give their offspring away
  • Dogs can appreciate excessive body hair
  • Anyone can get a good looking dog
  • If a dog is gorgeous, other dogs don't hate it
  • Dogs don't shop
  • Dogs like it when you leave lots of things on the floor
  • Dogs never need to examine the relationship
  • A dog's parents never visit
  • Dogs love long car trips
  • Dogs understand that instincts are better than asking for directions
  • When a dog gets old and snaps at you incessantly, you can shoot it
  • Dogs like beer
  • Dogs don't hate their bodies
  • Dogs never criticize
  • Dogs agree that you have to raise your voice to get your point across
  • Dogs never expect gifts
  • Dogs don't worry about germs
  • Dogs don't want to know about every other dog you've had
  • Dogs don't let magazine articles guide their lives
  • You never have to wait for a dog, they're ready to go 24 hours a day
  • Dogs have no use for flowers, cards or jewelry
  • Dogs don't borrow your shirts
  • Dogs never want foot rubs
  • Dogs enjoy heavy petting in public
  • Dogs find you amusing when you're drunk
  • Dogs can't talk
  • Dogs seldom outlive you
  • I'll add they never ask you trick questions like Do these pants make me look fat

"Why dogs are better than women"
That was great! I would add, dogs don't pitch a fit if you want to get a woman.
I'd like to get a lab but get blab, blab, blab everytime I mention it.

just one...

the best thing about a good dog is that he is always happy to see you, no matter what you did, what you said, or what you thought. my dogs make me feel like a better person than i probably am...

there aint no price tag for that
