California finally did something smart.....

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/....ap/index.html

plus... i saw a recent poll on CNN where 60% of nearly 100k respondents said
they felt Wal-Mart was a negative impact on areas now.

Sentiment is turning against Wally World - read this re "shaving":

http://www.dfw.com/mld/startelegram/...8352469.htm?1c

I'm a Wall Street capitalist pig, but I still believe the little guy has a right to an honest chance at making it in the world - and what WMT and some of the others are doing here is very morally wrong (besides illegal).

My old neighborhood in Newport News, Va had a SECOND super sized WMT forced down our throats due to the WMT lobby buying off the city council. It ruined the neighborhood with all the traffic and crap and usual wmt fubar atmosphere.

IMO, that's just wonderful! I only shop at wally world as a last resort...usually when nothing else is open. One of the things that I do not like about them (besides the regular stuff) is that they just leave their empty "husks" whenever and where ever they build a new store. Just makes me crazy!

Are you talking about the one at the old drive in? I'm from Yorktown and know how ya feel. What about the people in Kiln Creek...a Walmart at two of the entrances and a Super K at the other. It's pretty ugly...

That's it! I lived in Kiln Creek and that second walmart on Kings Highway and Victory Blvd really put a crapper in the treaffic. AND with a K-Mart just down the street!!!! I hated that!

I loved the area but I'm glad I'm away from all the traffic.

We already have two here in Winston-Salem. WM is trying to get another one approved so we can have 3. I guess they aren't satisfied with all the other businesses they've closed down here already.

I know the feeling in our three county area we have .....5 super
Wal-Marts....and a regular Wal-Mart... had one of the local
cities not turned down their proposal.. they were gonna close
the regular walmart and essentially live an empty building...
and build a new super one across the street......

Thats SIX serving and area of probably 375,000 people......
Hell a little town 30 miles north... had one built in it.. and within
a year... the local grocery store ( 50 years ) was closed as were
2 of the three hardware stores...

I don`t deal with em.We have 4 in a 10 square mile area, and all ya see is the little guy closing down. There should be laws against that type of a business practice. They screw their own employees. The only thing American about them is they operate in the USA.
