One question...
But how in the heck can a sail boat go faster than the wind is blowing?

...same reason an airplane can get off the ground. The lift created by the shape of the plane's wing is created by the shape of the sail from the mast back. The plane's wing is horizontal, so lift is vertical. Boat's "wing" is vertical, so "lift" is horizontal.

Now I'm going to have a beer and not care how that fridge stays cold without ice in it

I tried that once. Put the cat and a walkie talkie in the icebox and told him to meow when the light went off. Damn cat stayed quiet... Guess I should've put him in the fridge before I tried the freezer....

Have not purchased a repair kit yet. Waiting to see how far I'll fall behind. Still keeping pace, just not able to log in all day.

The sail is curved, so air travels farther around the outside of the sail. This creates a high pressure area on one side of the sail. Air travels from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure, which in turn creates lift. This lift moves the boat mostly sideways and a little bit forward. The keel is also curved and it creates lift mostly sideways (in the opposite direction of the lift created by the sail) and a little bit forwards. The lift created by the sail opposes the lift by the keel so the boat moves forward. The combination of lifts created by the keel and sails allow the boat to move faster than the wind. On some racing saiboats the apparent wind is always from the bow even if the wind is blowing straight from the stern. It is pretty amazing what racing sailboats can accomplish.

There's going to be a few unhappy campers in the morning that decided to stop and pitch a tent on the islands overnight.

This game makes me say bad words. @#$#, @#$@, @#$2 . I dont know how, but onejacker goes straight throw the middle of and island without getting stopped I'm right beside him and run aground on the tip of the island. My tracker showed I was still doing 24 knts, but if I put the cursor on my boat it showed zero and I lost 89,800 places in 1 hrs time. WTF There is definately a love hate relationship with this game!

89000 place in ONE HOUR? Geez, is the fleet bunched up or what???

Makes tweaking the speed that much more important, I guess.

WTF

Within 45 minutes I went from 11805 place to 118000. But the strange part is everyone that was on my map is now gone. Vanished, No friends on my list either anymore. I had over 75 an hour ago, now I have 0.

Don't feel too bad. On the last leg I ran over a small island only to run into another nearby island. When I did the 180 to get off the second island I ran aground on the island I had previously run over. Another 180 for about 20 minutes and then a 90 to starboard for about 20 minutes and another 90 to get me back on course.

So far I've managed to stay off the rocks thru this first set of islands. REM sleep navigation at it's best.
