Saw this today going north on the ICW. There was a chilly breeze from the north down where I was, so probably cold and blowy up there. Felt sorry for the guy in the bucket having to do that on a chilly Sunday.
I was fixing the pic at home this evening when I realised there wasn't just one guy up there! Have a look at this set up!!
Well they desserve respect. But I would feel more sorry for the house owners right under that RF field generated by the wires.
That elevator is extremely high. When seeing the base, looks similar to the US GMC left over here and still in service. Would it be logic to mount such an elevator to such an old rig?
After hurricane gustav we were checking on my Dads camp on the coast and we saw several airboats with buckets attached (though not as tall as the one you show). They were pretty cool and the first time I had seen that. They had either 3 or 4 engines on each.

IMO that outfit isn't designed for reach, it's designed for hight; there's no way that outfit could carry outriggers large enough to support any great boom/ arm distance outwards.
With those two guys working on a Sunday up there, all I know is that they made a hell of a lot more money then I did.
Transmission lineman all in a days work by the looks of the tower i'd say its about 15 stories high that truck is designed for height we call them a crane bucket boom

I use rubber gloves when changing FLASHLIGHT BATTERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a dive light leak while on a dive. Got back to the boat, opened the light to take out the batteries, 4 c-cells. The light was full of sea water. (Hint: sea water makes an excellent electrolyte.) In a true moment of an Eyeball brain fart, I reach into the light to take out the batteries. The path for the current was through water in the light, into my fingers, into my arm, through my body, down my leg, into the sea water on the deck, and who the hell cares how but it made its way back to the ocean to complete a circuit at my expense. You got no idea how much oomph is in 4-fuggin'-c-cells. It hurt like a muther ... !!!
