Random Quote: Its not about catching a fish, its about catching ALOT of fish!
I'm with you guys. Last summer, I was trying to apply my registration numbers, (had just taped off the straight line), when these morons started beeping and yelling like "hey get off the boat ramp dude".
Yup, the man will come down pretty hard on you if you stick a bass between the eyes with it in freshwater.
I think memorial day this year I am going to leave the boat at home and just take a cooler of beer out to the ramp. They have a nice little covered hut and picnic tables right by the ramp. You game RichardB?

RE: Idiots at the Lake!
I think that's an excellent idea. It'll give me a chance to finally use that video cam I had to have last year! LOL.
On another note. Back about 23 years ago I learned to SCUBA dive and with some friends of mine we used to go spear fishing there at the dam. We got some really big cat fish (and some of those catfish looked just like big bass....funiest thing.)
There are 3 times each year that I will not be on the water: Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day!* And this is to save my sanity!* It is hell out there on those days!

This is exactly why I first got a slip and avoid public parks and forests.
You guys (read the South - or actually anywhere but the Northeast) are from other areas of the country where there is a semblance of "hospitality", respect for others and politeness and paitence for others is still virtue. Can you imagine how bad it is in Connecticut? Don't let the bastards get you down - you'll end up like us
Hey just be happy you can launch a boat this time of the year. Happy boating!!!

HEY, I LIVE in the SOOOOOOOOOOOOWTH and I RESENT that!!!!!
Thank you, LI - that was a nice thing for you to say! We "try" down hea'!
Ya' know - you may not have a bad idea about being a "people/boat watcher" on Menorial Day, instead of getting in the middle of all that! I may do just THAT myself!

I use the saltwater ramps in NJ and get to experience it all; the "Ken and Barbie" types: too much tan and a "we're better than you" attitude. The "Nasty Bull Dykes" Mad at the whole world and taking it out on everyone at the ramp. The "Sopranos Wannabe Mafia Punks" They saw the HBO series and give everyone the "whadda you lookin' at"? attitude. and my favorite; the group of 8 immigrants who don't speak english, all piling into a 40 year old 16ft runabout. When they return to the ramp, they have buckets full of under sized fish. Unfortunately they're gone by the time I contact a Fish and Game Officer. Yea, I'm cynical. But this is the truth about living in NJ within sight of NY. Someday I'll be able to leave and move south!
