Default Massive Heart Attack

OK, Here's a post I did not think I would ever be posting Oct. 21, 2008 Tuesday I was cutting the grass and started
having sharp pains between my shoulder blades. I was on the riding lawn mower, and my wife was cutting grass with a push mower. I know what your thinking (Why is she pushing and I'm riding?) There is a small spot in our front yard that our rider will not fit in. And she will not let me cut that part for fear of me cutting down her flowers. Well I got off the lawn mower to move our cars where they would be out of the way, and the pain I was feeling kind of moved from my shoulders to my chest and I mean a really bad pain. So I walked to where my wife was cutting grass and told her to call 911, we went inside and she called the rescue unit. Dumb as I am I went upstairs in some pretty bad pain and took off the dirty clothes I had on, and changed it to a pair of shorts and washed my face and neck. Went back down stairs and sat in my reclining chair. I have had a open heart double bipass in 1995 but have been doing fine since then. In fact I had a stress test set up for Nov. 4th. OK here's the bottom line. I went in the Hospital Oct.21, 2008 ( Tuesday) had three stents put in. They went back in Oct. 24 (Friday) and put two more stents in. Sent me home on Sat Oct. 25.

I am doing fine now, just a little sore and get tired if I try to walk to far. Feel pretty good for a guy that the doctors said you just had a Massive Heart Attack... and I was lucky to be alive, They said I got to the Hospital just in time.

They also said that I should be able to go back to my normal activities in a few months.

Stay healthy man. You sound like my Grandfather (compliment intended). He drove himself to the emergency room twice after having heart attacks. My favorite was when he went out and pulled a trailer off his car, after having a heart attack, and then drove to the E-room. Stay healthy and give 'em hell.

Take care and God Bless. I was fishing on Columbus Day with a few friends, The capt. of the boat brought along one of his friends. He dropped and was out in a few seconds. We hailled the Coast Guard and ran toward the station. He stopped breathing and lost pulse. I started CPR till the Coast Guard boarded us and took over. They shocked him several times but he did not make it.
The worst thing Ive ever been through in my lifetime.

WOW. 5 stents - you must have been really blocked up. Plavix and be compliant on the cholesterol meds!

Which stents did they put in you?

Dayum Lucky, go easy!

Like Goosedog says about his own, mine too, when my Grandad finally had an EKG they asked; "When was your last heart episode?" He says, "Never had one", they say "Oh yes you have!"

You are as tough as you think surely, but for the rest of our candy asses? Like Garret said; THT without LuckyLaRue? Please!

Take care.

Thanks Goosedog, When I had by bi-pass in 1995, I beat my wife to the hospital. I called my doctor from work and told him my problem. He said you need to get here right away. When I got there I told the doctor, here's the keys to my car It's in the parking lot can you give them to my wife if I don't see her before they take me in. He said You drove here?

Some times us old farts just don't learn...

Just do what the doctors say.

My dad had an attack on the tennis court about 5 years ago at 72. He drove himself 15 miles home and about an hour later called the doc. The next day he had 4 stents installed. After a reasonable recovery time he actually felt better than immediately before the attack. This must have been because of the blockage. At 77, he still plays tennis three days a week and he's doing great.

I was pretty clogged up I don't have a lot of the answers yet, I was pretty well beat when I left the Hospital they told me and the wife a lot but I don't remember much of it. That's what I've got the wife for.

I have an appointment Tuesday Oct. 28 with my cardiologist(sp) I will know more then and let you know.

Lucky - best wishes on a speedy recovery! And a big thank-you - 5 stents! - my largest client's company manufactures stents and for the last 5 years or so has sent so much preasurble work my way I had seriously considered naming the boat 'Stent'!

Cracker, my wife was diagnosed with R.A. a few years back at 43 y.o., took a while to figure it out. No fun and God Bless.
