Default Do Halogen headlight bulbs dim over time?

I have H4 bulbs in my truck. 80/100W. I wonder if, over time, they slowly dim. I can't really tell if they have dimmed over time, but if I found out they do, a new set is going in. Anyone know?

Halogens won't dim . (unless you have a lower voltage) .just will blow out...BUT the lens and the reflector in the headlight can get dirty not allowing enough maximum reflection making the bulb appear dimmer.sometimes just opening the headlight cavity and cleaning it il make a big difference or a bit or polish on the lens if they get cloudy over a period of time.

Thank you. I do have bulbs that blow out every now and then and keep spares to replace when it happens. I do keep the outsides of my lenses waxed/plastic polished so they stay as clear/new as can be. Thanks again for the info, much appreciated.

every now and then? ...those bulbs should last a long time... unless it's a aftermarket light unit and the wire is undersized, or you have a serious vibration problem........last but not least make sure you wipe the bulbs clean or wear gloves installing them...the oil from your skin can cause hot spots on the bulb and cause premature failure.....
