So we were sitting at anchor today as the folks coming up for the day started to arrive. This boat came past aiming further up the anchorage. I looked at his set up and thought "hmmm, that ain't right," but kept my hand off the VHF.
I guess he couldn't find a spot to pull into the beach further on down so came up and pulled into the sand right by us. I looked at my wife, explained what the problem was, and told her I was thinking of either radioing or taking a swim over there.
She told me to leave them alone and mind my own business. I decided it was good advice. First we were enjoying ourselves as were they, everyone having a good time, plus I didn't want my nose rearranged!
You're not likely to hear this again folks.... I agree with Menzies here. NOTHING is placed above the American flag... Nothing, and I don't tolerate it. The asshole obviously never defended it, another Obama fan.
However I agree nothing should be flown above the American Flag, that in itself does not give you permission to accost the vessel operator, how do you even know that that he was the vessel owner.
Did I mention that I also do not believe it is savy to steal al logo and manipulate it for personal use.

You may have done, but then I would have mentioned that Wiley created it for me - remember, the guy who created the site and first created the logo. You should PM him with your displeasure.
You don't have to accost someone to ask if he is intentionally flying the US flag below that other. If he has never defended it he may be almost clueless about why so many of the rest of us find it offensive. Be that as it may, it would have done you good to point it out to him in a reasonable way, not challenging him in front of all his guests.

Should have told the portly lady that there is no way that floaty was going to support her heft. You should also be embarrassed that you did not ram their boat to teach them a lesson.
Like most things, I am sure it is ignorance and not meant to offend. a personal pet peeve of mine is when Former Presidents of the U.S. are referred to as President or former President and not by their previous title as is proper. The rule is that there is only one president of the United States at a time; therefore, the title does not accompany anyone out of office. Many lesser titles do, however, so a former president generally uses his last such title. The proper address is Senator Nixon, as it is Governor Reagan, Governor Carter, Governor Clinton, etc.

A polite conversation to the one who stands behind the wheel, owner or not, he's responsible for the boat and passenger's.
Or hit the transmitter and let everyone know.
As an American Citizen you have duties and responsibilities, these folk feel their duties and loyalties are with their homeland as shown by the order of the flags they fly, and take pride that regular joe american ain't gonna say a word due to complacency.
Too bad this is the age of excusable behavior and unchecked irresponsibility.
Too bad that in these days most feel the need to be "politically correct" over PATRIOTIC. Fine line? Bullcr@p.
Don't say anything when you see a wrong! After all, there might be trouble= #####
It's only a FLAG= I DON"T CARE
They don't know any better= They could care less!
Where's the Duke when we need him most?
Windage and elevation Mr. Menzies, windage and elevation.
There's a lot of people that stand BEHIND the Flag in this counrty. They expect to protected by which it stands for.
Then there are those that stood in front of it, to protect it for what it stands for.
Which one are you?
When I run the Colors, Eagle, Globe and Anchor fly under Old Glory, supporting her as it has, for 2 centuries plus.
I would have politely said something, probably on the radio. If they were obnoxious, I'd wait until they were under way again, then call the coast gaurd and tell 'em you saw the captain BWI, snortin' coke, hauling illegal aliens, and keeping illegal fishes.....

and i have seen improper flag etiquette a few times and i have mentioned it to other boaters before. i didn't go all hard core on them -- just said something like: "hey, i'm not trying to be a jerk, but i think you're supposed to be flying that american flag above your martini pennant." yeah. i actually saw that one. never did it over the radio though. the couple times i've done it, the guys were thankful and seemed pretty embarassed. however, clearly, it's a situation that could provoke someone.
i should note: the boy scout in the house next to us came and knocked on my door one day to let me know that i was flying the maryland state flag upside-down on our flagpole! (although it was below the stars and stripes, as it should be). i was as embarassed as the guys that i corrected, but thankful to have been corrected.
