Default Mississippi roads, take 45 or 49?

We'll be hauling our 10,000 pound boat through MS from Mobile to Memphis. There's two ways to go; either up 45 or through Hattiesburg and Jackson.

With that load, smoothest roads and fewest stops are the top priorities.

Anybody with MS road experience care to offer suggestion for the best route? Thanks!

Take Hwy 98 through Mobile to Hattiesburg, it's all smooth 4 lanes except for about 15 miles from Snow Rd. to the Mississippi state line. It's about a 70 mile run all good road. Hwy 45 is OK also but its a 2 lane curvy and a lot log trucks to contend with.

Thanks, Domino. Your information is exactly what I needed. Besides, looks like diesel prices are lowest in H-burg, so that's a Plus, too!
We'll go up to Jackson and then to Memphis. After that, the way to Lake of the Ozarks is pretty much a given; 63 to MO5.
I appreciate it!

Yep, I've done that drive on 98 to Hburg with a good haul on a gooseneck before and it was smooth sailing. Good luck

Thanks, Eye Catcher. We'll fill the tank in Jackson because that looks like the lowest diesel price in MS, AR or MO....
