OK...we usually stay close to the dock on July 4th weekend and not get in the mad mix of boaters but we decided to venture out and anchor up to a protected sandbar at the entrance to Beaufort inlet across from the jetty Saturday. We decided that was a far we we dared to venture out...
We had a great view of the craziest boaters I have ever witnessed. What a show! It was better than the State Fair.
However, during these few hours we witnessed dumbass adults pulling their children on inflatables in the middle of the inlet among boats of every size, speed and experience. We must have watched over a dozen different boats pulling these toys full of kids and clueless as to the danger they were in...
If you are familiar with the Morehead/Beaufort inlet you will agree that the inlet is dangerous enough during the week but this weekend it was unbelievable how may boats were out there...especially when we were watching from 2-6pm. If one of the kids were to have fallen off I doubt they would have been visible by 95% of the boaters.
