Is it a warranty repair or regular maintenance this month?* Why don't they just figure out how to put a grease fitting on the damn thing?*
someone told me that they put a spacer in there of some sort.........perhaps it has a grease fitting. Other then that the only other problems have been a rear leaking window, and an electrical issue...............11k on her
Iv`e been guying GM`s for over 50 years, most were Chevies.I have never had a major problem with any of em.I sure hope they don`t go under. My last truck I had for 14 years and the only parts that needed fixin beside hoses, belt and brakes, was a thermostate and altenator.
Sad. They (and the other US car makers) had years and years to develop fuel-efficient, durable vehicles, but opted to push the higher profit gas guzzlers that are now starting to rust away on their lots. Now the chickens are coming home to roost. Don't get me wrong -- one of my favorite cars was my '66 Corvair. It was good looking, sporty and had plenty of pep. I doubt I could fit in it today. I also had a 55 Pontiac convertible that busted a tie rod end in the old Rt. 23/46 traffic circle in Wayne NJ one rush hour evening. But, it's over 30 years since the gas lines, and the US car makers just ignored the lesson. Something about those who ignore the past being doomed to repeat it...

They have been selling Solid fuel-efficient for years and years, up until this point everyone wanted SUVs and Trucks so they focused on them. Chevy Alone has like 4 or 5 cars that get over 30 MPG. The '09 Base Vette even gets 26 Highway with a 6.2 liter.
Just can't seem to cross over to the Imports. Also don't get these U.S. and Government (military incl.) purchases of Foreign planes and parts..WTF???
Our children will probably be driving Iraqi or Israeli produced automobiles, that is if their $$$ will be worth anything. Yep, those fuel efficient high quality status foreign jobs are sure cheaper to own - hey youse can pay me now, or pay me later....

I agree LI . . . I've always owned an American car a pontiac, three fords and two jeeps . . . all great vehicles! In fact I still own three of the six today.
Our fiat dollars are very near worthless right now, they were only worth about .08 cents when clinton left office. I shudder to think of what inflation will bring as we head to retirement and as our children grow to become adults.
Perhaps we can count on a return to the gold/silver standard to head off runaway inflation as our nation has done in the past. Hard to fathom with our debt as it is though.
After all, the reason we went to fiat currency was because we had trouble covering national debts.
Sorry for the ramble . . .

I've had three new Suburbans and two GM pickups, and the drivetrains have been trouble-free, but the suspensions, brakes, steering, etc, absolutely suck on all of them. I must of had a dozen intermediate steering shaft kits, replacements, services, and they still have a problem. Shocks and tie rod ends at 40K. The brand new GM tie rod ends were two rough castings slapped together so that only the high spots act as a wear surface. I compared it to an Audi tie rod that my mechanic was installing, and it was like comparing a piece of polished glass to a piece of concrete. I can't roll down the windows at highway speed in either my GMC or my Sub without the roof oscillating like a piece of tin. I tried it this evening, and had to turn the radio full blast to hear Kudlow looking for Goldilocks. I don't need a Sub any longer, and you can bet your last that I will be looking at Toyota when I need another vehicle. I bought each of my kids used Camrys when they got their licenses, and they are still driving them 6 and 8 years later.
Now don't tell me you all think that because it is made by GM that it is AMERICAN MADE. Did you check the parts percentages and factory that it was made in. Last time I checked and it has been several years so things may have changed but when I looked at the big three it was using a majority of non-US parts (assembled in the US not made) or assembled in Mexico from some US parts. We(elected officials) have killed ourselves with outsourcing (NAFTA), welfare, and things like that. My daughter and your children will pay for our blunders. Hopefully it isn't to late to change our course or I guess I will have to learn spanish and slip across the Rio Grande when the shoe is on the other foot. Although I don't think they will look the other way like Washington does.
I don't care where it's made, I care how it's made, and that includes both the parts and the labor components.
You need to care about both...... Although I will admit at times things blur quite a bit...... Case in point I was looking at Toyota Pickups before I bought my new Chevy and most of the Toyota stuff was made and assembled in the US.
This may sound funny to some but I do refuse to buy anything from the company Mitsubishi, since they built the Zero that helped attack Pearl Harbor.

I'm the owner of a large ad agency who deals with new car dealers in every state in this great country the United States of America and dealers across Canada. I have always owned GM cars and trucks one Jeep and two Dodge Trucks. But the american auto maker has not keep up with the demands for better quality and more fuel efficient vehicles. They have set back and relied on buyer loyalty and their name brand to sell their vehicles and now their luck is running out mostly because of $4 a gallon gasoline. I have a friend who is also a customer and he is a full line GM Dealer and a Toyota Dealer and I was at his dealership one day picking up a new Escalade for my wife and of course him being a car dealer he also tried to sell me a new truck while I was trying to get him to increase his ad budget for more Radio and TV Production and air time. I have always been a Silverado Z71 fan but I drove a Toyota Tundra and I'll have to say it's a better truck. The power and torque, the ride, comfort, handling just everything about it is great. The down fall is it get's about 3 miles per gallon less per mile than the Chevy but everything else is far superior. My biggest gripe with GM over the years is the brakes on the trucks and SUV's. Rotors over heat and brakes don't last as long as the should. The Toyota has much larger rotors and pads and the rest of the truck is heaver built as well. I now have a Tundra 4x4 and a Silverado one ton dully with a Duramax Diesel with a Allison Transmisson. The Tundra is my everyday truck to the office and farm. I use the Silverado to pull my boat. GM, Ford and CDJ better wake up and start working over time and increase quality and fuel mileage. Toyota has a one ton dully in the works. I seen it last year. I hear it will have a 400 H.P. diesel with almost 8000 pounds of torque and a six speed automatic transmission. I hope the american auto maker will make some changes because I really try to buy products made in the USA by companies that are owned by Americans lining in the USA. It's a shame our eleccted officials have sold us out to foreigners and give them the Americann Workers Job as well.
Fisherman would make better politicans because if one bait doesn't work we'll try something else that'll does. They use the same bait all the time with the same catch. They get richer doeing less work and the American Workers get deeper and deeper in debt and work harder and have less thanks to their own personal greed. We should all send our Congressman and Senators a thank you card for their wonderful ways of doing business.....$4 and $5 fuel, soring food cost, highest number of foreclosers, highest number of homelss people, record number of businesses closing their doors, health care no one can afford and then close with a sincere thank you to them by saying I hope with all your perks, salary, travel expense, free postage, and FREE Health CARE and last but not lease your retirement pay and benifts for life that you have pleasant dreams and no worries so you can awake with energy and go out and make some more great decisions while the rest of us worrie about how we're gonna pay for what we owe, put food on the table and pay for our childrens education and health care and oh by the way keep our employees working so they can support their families. I hope you sleep good sir election time is just around the corner and it's a time to remember and reflect back about all your great decisions thats got us where we're at today.Good Night
Thanks

RadioAdMan,
I will have to disagree with you on 2 counts. First I have a 1997 Chevy 4X4 with the 5.7L engine and 137K miles. It has had one brake job in its life and they are still fine and it has pulled a 22 foot and a 23 footer around some too. I have to also say that the new Chevy Z71 I have has an awesome ride. Toyotas may ride better but I dont think so. The Chevy 5.3L and the fuel management is getting 19 mpg with only 200 miles on it. When its broken in it will get 21 to 22. The Toyota gets realistically 16 to 17.

The 07 Z71 I had was a great truck but it didn't get but 16,17, 18 mpg with me but I have a lead foot. I had 2 tahoes and had brake problems and we din't do any towing but they were both driven by my wife and she is a blonde..what can I say. I trade all my vehicles every year and the next time I trade I'll look at GM first and I hope I can buy a GM truck but it's gonna be hard to change my mind on the Tundra. The next ride for my wife will again be a new Escalade. We have to many vehicles.... 2 trucks, 1 Escade, 1 CTS, 1 Yamaha V Max, 3 boats, 4 atv's, 4 dirt bikes and 16 horses. Way to much to buy gas and insurance for and feed. Plus the wants and give me of a wife and a 9 year old and a 12 year old.
