The GAO sided with Boeing and are reccomending the airforce re-open the contract bid. The GAO said they found multiple errors in stated potential cost savings and misleading info in performance stats along with failure to keep Boeing up to date on changes to requirements.
The USAF has 60 days to either start from square one as the GAO is reccomending or ignore the reccomendation and risk losing funding from congress.
Northrup Gruman was going to break ground in the next week or so for the US plant that they promised to build but put that on hold after the announcement.
Maybe after the shake up of the top echilon of the USAF last week they might get it right this time.
