I quit 3 months ago after 25 years of 2 packs a day. I used Chantix (prescription drug) that made the initial transition easy - its really a miracle drug. I've been off of it for 3 weeks now and still haven't had a cigarette. I'll admit that there are times when I think I want a cig, but REALLY what I want is a 5 minute break and to concentrate on my breathing. So instead of smoking I go outside, take a look at something of beauty (be it a butterfly or an ant !), and take a few deep breaths. Works better than ANY cig and it doesn't make me cough LOL

Pall Malls, Camels, and Cowboy Killers. I quit nine years ago. Wish I could become one of those cigarette haters who wince at the smell of them, but I still want a smoke from time to time. Hate it when I am near someone smoking one of my old brands, damn, I could fire one up right now!

I did not use pills or patches. Just chewed straws, toothpicks, and coffee stirers. Ruined my teeth and terrorized my staff, but made it...so far.

I gave them up about 13 years ago. I still miss them every once in a while. That part never goes away, but you go longer and longer between thinking of them. What did it for me was throwing away my lighter. It felt like an investment, so I was never fully committed to quitting until I threw away the lighter as well. Pretty dumb logic, but it worked.

I still have a good cigar now and then, but I'm ok with that.
