Default Is Vodka a "Clear Liquid"?

Going in for a colonoscopy tomorrow. The directions say, in addition to the Golytly, that I can have clear liquids up until midnight. I have some Absolut mandarin vodka that looks pretty clear to me.

That gives you about five hours and you could mix it with tonic.

It could effect the anesthesia/ sedative if you are having one. Most people dont request it for a colonoscopy and your doctor would have already brought it up if it were being recomended.

I specifically asked the ass-cam doc that very same question last year before my colonoscopy. As has already been mentioned, yes, vodka is a clear liquid and consuming it will not interfere with the camera results. Actually, the doc said pretty much all of the whiskeys were ok but to avoid red wine and dark, heavy beer the day before.

And as Kamper mentioned above, you will be offered drugs to make you more comfortable as 7-ft of a 9-ft long camera takes off on a journey into parts of your colon where no man could have gone before.

Btw, it doesn't end with the colonoscopy. You need to do annual screening for blood in your stools. But it's better safe than sorry on this one.

Hey, Shag, here's to wishing you the best possible outcome and hoping everything scopes out ok for you.

IF, he's having one????? Most don't request it????

I'll tell you what they had better give me mass amounts of drugs when the time comes.

Thanks for the replies guys! I think it may be a moot point now. I'm not feeling too well. The Golytly gods seem to be really upset at something inside me right now. I shoulda weighed myself first.

Drugs will definitely be involved tomorrow even if I have to bring my own.

Eyeball, thanks for the . No signs of anything, just a routine (hopefully) 50 year old thing.

I am supposed to have one this year (supposed to last year too, but never got around to it), and I know it is important, so maybe the green light on the Grey Goose will help me get there!

Partial or full?

The partials are the worst. You are still awake and get to lie on your side watching the monitor and they do the approach and landing! Then watch as they crawl all the way up while pumping you full of air!

With the full you are out for the count.

After 3 or 4 it starts to get cloudy, clear fluids only basically says stay with 1 or 2 drinks.

I wouldn't sweat a colonoscopy. The worst part is drinking that gallon of prep stuff the day before. I remember chatting with the nurse and the next thing I remember is waking up in the recovery room, absolutely no memory of anything. Modern pharmaceuticals are pretty miraculous.

Yes I was the same way. They knocked me out big time. I had the colonoscopy and an endoscopy at the same time. I just remember waking up in another room wondering where I was. Regarding drinking vodka the night before. That stuff they give you to drink when you aren't sitting on the pot will get rid of any want/desire of drinking vodka.

I guess it's a little late to ask, but was this just for a cultural experience or are you backed up? Now you will know what us women feel like when you guys like to come a visiting ~ HA! I was going to say, since you are there you might as well get them to give the garden hose treatment. Not only will it flush you out but it will also give you some product to go along with that feeling of wanting to splat all over the Proctologist ~ HA! PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF hahahaha. Just wait till you start farting out your p-hole.

Scopes typically involve IV sedation.

I just had one, no big deal, don't remember a thing thanks to the pharms. The worst part is drinking the gallon of colon-blow solution the night before.

For anyone putting it off think about this: By the time you show symptoms of colon cancer it is too late. Best case is you will be wearing a bag for life, worst case is, well you know.

The only person I know, who has had this procedure and discussed it with me said the nurse thought she was crazy for having the IV knockout drops. She gave the impression most patients just took an industrial strenght dose of valium.

Butt, yes I am crazy. Is that relevant?
