Default Igloo Cooler

Is there any significant difference between

Igloo Marine Cooler
and
Igloo MaxCold (5 Day) Cooler ?

Side by side they are almost identical.

Loss of volume! The walls are thicker inside, the 60Q is rated 50Q in the Max. I've got both.

yeah.. the price. i stopped buying "marine" coolers long ago... most are way over rated, some are better than others but for the intended purpose. those max colds are great

I've only picked up "marine" coolers during REALLY BIG sales.

.......agreed the Max is great! I use it to bring home "frozen" fish and game on long trips.

I am looking at pickup a pair of 70.

Marine = 72qt/110can for $64.99 (L29.75" x W16.75" x H16.5")
MaxCold = 70qt/114can for $59.99 (L29.5" x W16.31" x H15.69")

The all white of the Marine does match the boat's cockpit much better. However for $5 less and better insulation. Looks like it will be a pair of MaxCold instead.

Thanks

MaxCold seems to keep ice much longer than the marine ice chest. If you do not need something to stay cold for more than a day....get the less expensive of the two.

According to igloo official site. Both are 5 Day cooler.

Difference are the color (pretty obvious), size (pretty ignificant) and the lid:

Marine lid has a hinge lock plus fish ruler
MaxCold lid has a friction lid plus cup holder

Yeah, I picked up the big one at Costco for tuna runs and a smaller one at a local sporting goods place for the motorhome.

Even though one is "marine" and the other "max", they both appear just as efficient as the other.

I have found the friction lid on the max to be a little too tight though. Unless it is at least half way full of ice and beverages, you have to use two hands to open it. One to lift the lid, and the other to hold the chest down.

Good luck!

I think the main difference is that one costs about $20 more

I ended up with two of the Marine 72qt. Boater's World charge me $69.99 each. While their catalog advertise it for $64.99.
I was in a rush and didn't have enough time to hassle with the manager.

The other difference is that the lip design of the Marine cooler is better at keeping water/liquid from from accidentally entering the cooler.

White exterior will absorb less heat than darker color. Might make a difference in FL sun. Not sure.
