Default Ford 7.3 PSD - Fuel economy

For those of you driving the Ford 7.3 Powerstroke diesel, what kind of fuel economy are you getting? If you have any engine modifications, please indicate this too. Thanks.

Thanks guys -- the truck is an 1999 F350 Crew Cab (the kind with 4 full doors) with an auto transmission. Not certain about the gears but I'd guess 3.73 since at 65mph she's at 1800rpms or so. I was thinking taht she'd get 18mpg while on the freeway and 14-15 around town.

I recently addded a K&N air intake kits to my 6.0 PSD and it made a HUGE milage difference. Milage went up 2-2.5 per gallon

Try this forum, too.... http://www.powerstroke.org/forum/ There have been several threads about MPG recently. Getting more than 16.5 out of my Excursion PSD is tough for around town driving; even with a feathered foot, no mods. I know that MPG went down in the past couple months, whether it's ULSD or winter blends, I don't know.

Are you Bamaboy on the .org? Just curious...

www.powerstroke.org is a GREAT site!!! The members have been very helpful and are extremely knowledgable about any Powerstroke Diesel truck/suv. These are the two forums I visit the most

one and the same if there's a 473 on the tail. At my age, having more than one screen name would lead to catastrophic dithering....

A question about after-market add-ons like air filters and compurt chips....... If they actually improve fuel ecomony like many say (and I believe these products do improve economy), why aren't these products offered as OEM?
