Re: Classic old magazine article... Brings back memories, all right...
My mother had to be one of the worst cooks ever created. She could ruin a bowl of corn flakes or overcook just about anything til it tasted like cardboard.
My father use to say that she had her good faults and her bad faults.
But she sat down with us after school and watched us do our homework, raised us on her own after our father died suddenly a month short of 50, saw to it that we went to college, and had enough confidence in us that she let us live our own lives without interference from her.
But she sure was a terrible cook.
Cigarettes took her away at 74.
On the other hand, my ex-wife was a good cook, but a lousy person.
Go figure.
