No tears here. He simply ended up getting exactly what he was asking for.
It is too bad that it most likely cost the life of a perfectly good police vehicle.
I drill and practice several times a month with my handguns but I can't say I've ever practiced THAT particular (on the hood) stance!!!!!! I need to borrow someone's car for an afternoon......... .......................
Ok...let's see what you think of my rambling here.
When the officer comes upon the car the car turns and runs the other way. If you watch the front wheels he is trying to go around the officers car...not ram him. He shows indecisive movement. You never see an impact on the camera (either direct or indirect by movement) yet the officer says he's been rammed. Once the chase is on the officer comments that "when he catches him he's taking him down". I wonder what exactly the officer meant by that. My first comment is there are seconds which aren't shown. If a gun was produced by the operator then by all means the officer must defend himself. But we never see a gun. What if this was your kid who made a bad decisison to run? Would you still feel it was a good thing the officer put five shots into the operator from close range through the windshield? Just wondering.
OK Mole here goes, first I believe the officer said that the guy tried to ram him, not that he was rammed. Second I believe when the officer said he was going to take him out he meant the PITT manuever. Now sure if it were my son I would be devastated, but the police have an obligation to the public at large to keep threats away, and running from the police at 100mph is a threat to everyone on the road, how would you feel if your child was killed by the idiot running from the law?

Ahh when all else fails, lets try to introduce emotion into an argument to persuade them.
"You never see an impact on the camera (either direct or indirect by movement) yet the officer says he's been rammed."
The above is simply not true. Re-watch the video, and you will clearly hear the officer say "I just had a vehicle try to ram me.
"Once the chase is on the officer comments that "when he catches him he's taking him down".
Again, simply not true. The officer says he is "going to take this guy out if I get a chance" - meaning he is going to ram the car if he gets the chance to do so - unfortunately a practice that some departments do not use.
There does not have to be a gun present to justify the use of deadly force. At the end, the vehicle is moving while the officer is on the hood. The vehicle itself is a deadly weapon.
A bad decision to run? If you want to run from the police - deal with the consequences that come with it - that is the lesson my father taught me and that is the lesson I will teach my children. You do not want to get shot - do not run plain and simple.

The brotha must have been used to people pointing guns at his face because he seemed to ignore it. For some reason a gun in my face ALWAYS held my attention and unequivocal cooperation. My kids are smart enough to realize that you CAN'T outrun the law. Someone never told DAN that.
Welp, I didn't know we instituted the death penalty for traffic violations. That's a new one on me.
You can read about it here. No...he's not a model citizen. But hey...society today loves seeing people humiliated, killed, entrapped, etc. Just watch some of your shows today. Oh yeah...the article.
Mole, look at DAN's picture. Come on man, what in the world are you thinkin. The opposite of your argument would be, what if he hit you and your family broadside doing 100mph and killed all of you, now that would have been tragic. The shooting was justified, and I hope that all situations like this are treated similarly in the future. DAN got what he deserved.
