Well, it looks like I'll be headed down to Savannah, TN on Pickwick Lake either tomorrow evening or early Friday morning to bring ole' "Freebird" to her final nesting place, at least for this part of her life. I sure do appreciate the THT member (who shall remain annonymous unless he wants to fess up!) who volunteered use his dock for the past several weeks. It sure did help break up the trip from Florida and gave me some time to get caught up on things at home and work.
She's docked at about river mile 210 and I'll be taking her to about river mile 551. At 9mph, that's about 38 hours of running. Obviously, it will take a good bit longer than that factoring in 6 lockages which at best will take about an hour each. With any luck, it should take me 4 loong days to do the trip. As before, this will be another solo effort on a single engine.
I have enough fuel onboard to make the run, but I'll have to sit down and figure out daily destinations for overnighting at marinas on the way up. I can hook it if I have to, but I'd rather not. Hell, by the time I run the genny for 8 hours or so, I can just about pay dockage and use their electricity and facilities as well as finding some good food.
Oh well, here I go again. Anybody want to go for a little boat ride from TN across AL and back up to TN again? Anybody want to toss some cold ones off a bridge along the way?

I don't know Bird, I have an image to protect and if someone were to see me riding on a Hatt, well the damage to my reputation would be disasterous. Have a good trip Bubba

Hell son, your reputation could only go up from everything I've seen and read on here!
Come on Bubba, you kin do it! I'm even going to fly my big ole' 3 flag to protect me while traveling through Alabama. I've got a big orange "T" flag, but maybe I better keep that one at home.

Thanks guys, I'll be leaving out around 3 or so this afternoon to make the drive down to Savannah. It's about a 4.5 hour drive to where the boat is, but I'll be making it in a diesel VW wagon that the THTer needed to be brought down from near where I live. With that in mind, I may get there around 7AM tomorrow!
I must be living right or something to find a guy who would offer me free dockage as well as a one way car deal so I wouldn't have to leave mine there or have the wife take me and drop me off. I only hope I'm in a position to return the favor some day.
