Default Credit Card

I have a Discover card. I get a 1% cash rebate on everything I charge and I pay it off each month so there's no interest charge.

Some places don't accept Discover cards.

Most Master and Visa cards offer "points" which are of no interest to me. I can't spend "points" but I can spend cash.

Do any Master or Visa cards offer cash rebates similar to Discover?

My card gets me "points" I can use to select from a variety of gift cards. As long as the gift cards are for stores or restaurants I would go to anyway, what's the difference? Doesn't matter to me.

I too pay mine off every month. Mine gives me a rebate on any building or hardware type store. Pays for my families vacation every year.

I have a Capital One Visa. 1/2% back but I think there's a max payment of something like $400. They used to send me a check now they just apply it to the bill once a year.

I think Citicard also has a card that gives 5% back on gas up to a certian amount per year. Capitol One has somehting similiar. Check their web-sites. Citicard laso has a drivers edge cars that has a 1 or 2 % back on everything towards your next car purchase - new or used. I have used that and the GM card to get several thousand off my last few car purchases.

I'm a guy who trades vehicles every ten years or when wrecked so I don't think that will help much.

Also, I don't care about the APR because I pay the card off each month.

I'm just looking for cash that I can spend anywhere, any time. Just like Discover, but accepted anywhere.

I'll look into the suggestions posted so far.

Thanks

My card has points. Can redeem the points for many things including gas cards. Exxon, Shell and BP/Amoco. Always need gas, spends like cash. I have no problems with this arrangement. End every year with $300 - $400 worth of gas cards.
