Just curious if any of you have purchased one. I, like so many others on this forum, also have a few shares of Apple stock. But one thing I have noticed is I know of no one over the age of 30 who has purchased one of these new phones. I know three people who actually have bought one, and they were all 19 - 21 yr old girls who spent all their summer work money, to date, to make the purchase. That is a good thing for the Apple, not sure it is so good for the buyers or their families who were hoping the summer job money might help defray college expenses. I have no desire or need to purchase the phone and that is the same opinion of my coworkers and my wife's coworkers. We do live in a rural area, where there is not an excess of expendable income. I know Apple has sold a bunch of phones over the last few days, but wonder if the sales will continue to be reasonable over the long haul, or will it fizzle after the folks that buy every new gadget quit buying. What are some of your thoughts from the folks living in a less rural area?
I'm sure plenty of folks will buy one, and it will boost the stock price. But to me, it seems like a waste. Expensive phone with a crappy network that does stuff my existing phone will already do--play .mp3's and surf the internet (and I've never used either function). I don't think it will revolutionize anything like the Ipod did, but it won't be the Newton, either.
I'm not understanding the craze of all these new phones, maybe it's my age.....
My old Motorola V60 doesn't:
take photos..... I have a camera thank you
play games..... neither do I.....
get the Internet...... I have a laptop for that
have a million ring tones..... one will do nicely
My old Motorola V60 DOES:
make and receive phone calls very nicely...... Thank you .......
I just got back from playing with one at the Apple store. I'm waiting at least until Christmas for any software bugs to be worked out. By then the price should a little lower and a 20 gig one will be coming out.

My wife was telling me than on a New show CNN????? that they said the battery is not replaceable if and when it goes bad you have to throw the iphone away. Kinda like her IPod, have to send it back to factory to get battery replaced if it goes bad. I will never again buy something like that that does not use regular batteries that I can buy anywhere. Now days when we go some where she takes my cheap RCA Mp3 player with SD Card slot now I have to buy another one.

although I am not happy with a non-replaceable batt, this is how urban myths start. See the phone batt replacement procedure here if you have problems...
I picked one up last friday. It is replacing my old phone (razor) and my old iPod. So far no SW problems like others have reported.
It will replace my ipod when I'm on a plane but not the boat. When the phone rings on the boat, I don't want the music to die for my guests so I'll still use the video ipod......

Do you think that the airline crew will let you keep it on,being that it is a cell phone,or can you just turn on certain functions without turning on the phone?
