Is Rex Grossman the worst starting quarterback in Super Bowl history?
Definitely not. While the disparity in reputation and past performance between Grossman and Peyton Manning may be the widest gulf between two Super Bowl starters, Grossman can’t claim the distinction of being the worst starter, no matter how you slice the statistics.
No, the worst would appear to be Miami’s David Woodley, the starter against Washington in the Super Bowl following the strike-shortened 1982 season. Woodley, who bridged the gap for the Dolphins between Bob Griese and Dan Marino, averaged just 120 passing yards a game and threw more interceptions (8) than touchdown passes (5) in that nine-game season.
By contrast, Grossman, who had a passer rating above 100 in nearly half his team’s games (7 of 16), is a superstar. Grossman’s problem is that he is rarely mediocre; he’s either very good or very bad. He had five games with a passer rating below 40.
A Panthers fan? I didn't know they existed I was at the Steelers at Panthers game and all I saw was Black and Gold!
On that note, there are several NFL teams that will not allow fans to buy a single game ticket when the Steelers visit. Usually require them to purchase a exhibition game and one other home game when purchasing games against the Steelers. I guess they do not want their home stadium to be routing for the visitors.
I guess we will find out, if they win it will not matter what he does if they loose I am sure he will get the blame.
Just like Chris Leak this year at FL, poor kid had been through a lot in his NCAA career and even boo's from his own fans but I guess now a lot of folks are eating crow and I am sure he wanted to shove that NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY in the faces of all of those that critized and booed him

What were Dilfer's stats for the year? Wonder what Joe Kapp's were (SB IV for those flipping thru the almanac?) Statistically, how good were Eason's numbers in 85?
One thing I do know, he's looked uglier than most of the other SB QBs.
Sometimes when I watch him, I wonder if McNabb snuck into his uni with all the passes he throws at WRs' feet.
20 mins later...
Dilfer in 9 games = 59% comp, 1502 yds, 12 TD, 11 INT
Eason for the 85 season 56% comp, 2156 yds in 16 gms, 11 TD, 17 INT
Kapp in 69 (13 gms) = 50.6%, 1726 yds, 19 TD 13 INT
Woodley (9 gms) = 55%, 1080 yds, 5 TD, 8 INT
Toss up, but I vote for Eason who was the team's #1 QB. Woodley had Strock who also played in all 9 games that year.
Grossman's numbers are Marino-esque by comparison, but
he still sux.

It's not worst QB in the game. It's worst QB that season in the game.
Worst SB performances by starting QBs
III - Morrall = 6/17 71 yds. 0 TDs/3 INTs -- Loss
V - Morton = 12/26, 127, 1/3 - L
V - Morrall = 7/15, 147, 0/1 - W
VI - Griese = 12/23, 134, 0/1 - L
VII - Kilmer = 14/28, 104, 0/3 - L
IX - Tarkenton = 11/26, 102, 0/3 - L
XII - Morton = 4/15, 39, 0/4 - L
XVII - Woodley = 4/14, 97, 1/1 - L
XXIV = Elway = 10/26, 108, 0/2 - L
XXXV = Collins = 15/39, 112, 0/4 - L
XL = Roethlisberger = 9/21, 123, 0/2 - W
Yeah, Roethlisberger's day sucked, but it wasn't close to the worst day in SB history. And, he won. So let's not throw him under the bus as the symbol for pathetic SB performance when he's not in the top 10.
Sorry he's not Brady. Who is?
Look at some of the names on that list. Grossman couldn't hold a couple of those QBs' jocks. He definitely could be among those numbers.

Amendment, Roethlisberger's day was the 7th worst in SB history rating-wise.
Morton in XII = 0.0
Collins in XXXV = 7.1
Morrall in III = 9.3
Tarkenton in IX = 14.1
Elway in XXIV = 19.4
Kilmer in VIII = 19.6
Roeth in XL = 22.6
Morton in V = 34.1
Elway in XXII = 36.8 (14/38, 257, 1/3)
Kelly in XXVI = 44.8 (28/58, 275, 2/4)
Interestingly, 3 of those guys are HOFers.
Also interestingly, none of Brady's three days are in the top 10 out of 80 starting QBs (14th - 110.2, 20th 100.5, 32nd 86.2)
Now you see what I do when I'm on a 9 hour conf call...
