Yesterday I stopped by Wally World to get some spare bulbs for my 3 cell Mag Light. I see the bulbs I need THEN I see a 3 watt LED replacement bulb....... WHOA, let me check this bad boy out....... I decided to spring the 20.00 and give her a try. I waited until after dark and shined the light at several distant objects with the regular bulb then changed to the LED and shined the same objects. What a difference!!!!!!!!!!!! The LED replacement is focusable just like the regular bulb but comes to a tighter spot than the other one..... You gotta give this a try........
The replacement is made by Mag Light, and I have NO connection with anyone, so this is NOT spamming.........
You went to Wal-Mart? I don't think I would have told that.

It may be just my old eyes, but I find that the LED lights do quite well in darkness, but when looking into a dark recess, e.g., bilge, from daylight, the older, incandescant bulbs illuminate better. Is this just my failing eyes, or have others had the same experience?
I was surprised to see that Surefire's LED lamp for their E1E is rated at 25 lumens and the standard lamp is rated at 15 lumens, (very intense at close range) . Contacted them expecting it to be a misprint, but they say that the LED is brighter & lasts alot longer
