Need monitor help
Currently have 2 Navnet2's, 1 Northstar 6100i, and 1 Northstar 962 XD. All are somehow networked I think- ( I can display data from any of these units on a separate Northstar 1202 montior).
Problem is the 962 has died over the winter and repair is basically out of the question from what I've researched (this unit was also the "driver" for the autopilot). To make life simple, for the time being I would like to get another monitor to fill the hole where the 962 is and hook it into the Navnet system.
The price for just a monitor from Northstar seems ridiculus (over $ 2300.00) when it's basically a computer monitor that can bought for a fraction of that-or am I missing something that "marinizes" this?
My question is- does anyone know where I could possibly get another 1202 monitor (unsuccessful on eBay so far)?, would a "generic" LCD monitor be applicable or is there some type of "computer" within marine monitors that manufacturer's use to de-code and display information? It would be great if the screen would fit in the existing hole so I wouldn't have to fabricate a new panel.
Guys, please be gentle- this is my first post and I tend to be "communicationally challenged" when describing problems!
Thanks is advance for all your help.
