Default Raymarine autipilot

I have been looking for an AP for my boat. Wellcraft 270 08 twin yamaha f250
7500 displacement, hydraulics steering
I have two E80's

I can not decide. I would like the sportpilot to avoid dealing with hydraulics, but I am not sure.
Would like something new, nice without rudder reference and with an smart compass to help my radar overlay, maarpa and all the etc...

Help

Sorry for the delayed response. If you already have Raymarine on your boat then you are probably good to go with one of Raymarines new smartpilot X series corepacks. However, when you stated your displacement is 7500 is that what you owners manual states? Does it include fuel, and engines? Where I am going with this is that the max for the X-5 Sportpilot is 7700. So you might be over the 7700 with fuel, people, and your engines if that 7500 is not including these. Therefore, you will need to step up to the X-10 corepack and get a hydraulic pump. You will also need to know if you engines are in series or parallel, and what is the cubic inches of your hydraulic steering ram. You best bet is to probably give us a call or send me an email so we can help assist you in picking out the proper autopilot. We look forward to hearing from you!

I was in a similar situation...i have twin ultra flex 128 cylinders with a boat that weighs about 7,500. Inspite of what you may hear about it, I bought the now obsolete S1G package unit for $1,100...includes the S1G computer, the T1 hydraulic pump, the 6002 control unit, and the rudder reference. While the hydraulic hook-up made me uncomfortable, but within 2 hours, me and assistant had the piping complete and bleeding of the system.

As for performance, I thought my cylinders for too large for this system, and I was shocked how well it functioned. The alternative is to buy the same exact components (less the rudder reference) and then shell out a whopping $1600 for just the x10....total cost for todays Raymarine hydraulic system is $2,600. With the system I bought (on clearance) it was with the idea that I could always add the x10 if I was dissatisfied with the performance of the S1G unit.

We still have these older packages with the S1G corepack, type 1 pump (cylinders up to 10.5 C.I.), ST6002 or ST8002 control heads, and rudder reference. This would be a good inexpensive choice for you as long as you steering cylinders are less than 10.5 cubic inch. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Regards,

Steven
