Default Electronics Questions...

Hey Guys...

I just wanted to start the open forum here and see what kind of questions you guys have. I know there is a lot of new products coming out this year and sometimes that can be overwhelming. We've got new systems such as the Lowrance HDS, the Raymarine C Wides and A series, the new Si-Tex Radars and Fish-finders. Of course there are the machines that have been out like the 42 and 52 series from Garmin that we'd be glad to answer questions on as well. So fire away THT Members and we'll see if we can't help you out.

I assume you are trying to remove scratches from the LCD screen. This is something that can be replaced by Furuno, and quite honestly that is about the best solution. The units have an LCD screen that has a special coating that makes it tough for end-users to be able to repair/replace themselves. You can reach Furuno's tech line at (360)834-9300 and they can discuss the replacement or repair.

As always, it is important when cleaning and wiping your screen that you use a non abrasive cloth and that you spritz it down with freshwater before wiping it off (this helps prevent the scratches-- salt spray and dirt will scratch your screen up pretty bad if you don't spritz it down first with a spray bottle filled with freshwater). Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks,

Bobby

Default Hds 8

I was curious how high the HDS 8 unit was on the mounting bracket. I am limited on space because it goes in a locking console.

Your looking at 7 3/4" for the case height and a additional 1/2" with the bracket. The overall dimensions
for the unit are 7.76"H X 10.59"W X 3.68"D.
