I will be doing Annapolis since it is so close to the my dock and will talk to the family about Rockhall since it is on the 3rd and we will be in the Magothy rafted up with friends during the day.

Anybody have any advice or opinions on the Baltimore Inner Harbor fireworks. I am a relatively new boater with a 21' SeaRay bowrider, and was thinking about heading up there. I am close (about 20-25 minutes away) and have been up once so far. I was wondering if the boat crowds and nightime traffic may be more trouble than it is worth.
Welcome to the board cwhyte. I have never done the Baltimore show but Annapolis is very crowded. Just be prepared to take your time and have eyes in the back of your head. If you can relax, it makes for a great time. My kids talk about it all year round. To ease the stress we will wait until all the crazies pull anchor and run full steam in the dark after the show before even motoring slowly back to our dock.

bigrockhunter - 6/27/2005 8:24 PM I will be heading over with the family to the Rock Hall fireworks was a great show last years. Anybody else going?
Definitely doing Kent Narrows, maybe Rock Hall.* Where did you anchor ?
We anchored outside the harbor inside the eastern edge of the Channel going into rock hall. They shoot the fireworks off right there near the beginning of the sea wall on the beach.
Baltimore Fireworks get really crowded. You may be better off with on of the other shows.
Baltimore Harbor Fireworks best viewed from shore - I wouldn't venture out in a small boat. My experience has been too many yahoo's racing out the Patapsco in an attempt to get somewhere. The sea of red, green and white lights in enough to confuse any boater. Add in the flashing blue lights of the police and fire boats and you really have a visual smorgasborg combined with the lights on shore.
Best to leave your 21ft Sea Ray safe and secure in its slip than risk being run over...
