I have 3 Lowrance, LCX 110, LCX 25 and a LCX 28 HD. All with sonar and GPS.
I fish the Chesapeake bay and tributaries for bass and stripers the most.
I love the color and the detail.
Here are some photos.

When you say "Fish marks" I hope you do not mean you want the unit to actually show little fish shaped symbols?

Lowrance has good color units and accepts Navionics charts. If you are fishing deeper waters, I've always seen Furano as the recommended fish finder.

I don't know where you heard good things about Lowrance, possibly the salesman trying to sell you one. Lowrance sucks... Buy a furuno fcv 620. It's the best sounder for the money.

Love my Lowrance HDS-8 and I am not a salesman. Talk to Jim w/BOE he sells all of the units and will shoot it to you straight.

There are a lot of Lowrance bashers on this site so take their often baseless comments with a grain of salt.

i never bash anything, however over the past 15 years i have tried lowrance sounders 3 times, and was really unhappy with all 3.
i thought i was gonna be all set each time, and was never satisfied. thats just me.

He's lookin for an opinion. Does it really bother you that much where he is asking it? I would look for opinions on equipment from people who fish where I fish.

I never said it bothered me, but its pretty obvious when a guy with his own website and place of employment links in his sig. asks a general question on a regional forum he is looking for exposure.

Absolutely looking for exposure. That would be obvious, do you know anyone that is in the market for a deck or a fence, we have some awesome deals going on right now on vinyl, wood, and aluminum. Any refferals are appreciated. My fishing site is just a hobby to share info with fellow fisherman, right now im waitin on the yellow perch, and castin for creek chubs til they show up. How bout you, doin any fishin?

Oh by the way i asked the question earlier in the year before i even added my signature, so that wasnt the motive for the question. i was looking for legitimate info. i was suprised to see it pop back up.

The only reason I haven't been fishing lately is I haven't had any time. I used up all my vacation last year and I am itching to go. Had an apportunity to do a Tautog, Flounder and Bluefish trip out of OC but had to bail due to lack of water at the ramp. This weather is really starting to suck.
For the record, I love my Lowrance LMS337c but was very unhappy when the transducer delaminated and fell apart. What did you end up buying?

Dave, i will give you my unbiased opinion as i have both on my boat. I have the Furuno 620 FF unit, and a Lowrance Globalmap 7200c (GPS only). The Furuno is without doubt a fine unit, but i also like the Lowrance gps unit, and it has served me well so far.
I was playing with one of the new Lowrance HDS units in the local Gander Mountain and i gotta tell you, i was impressed with the definition and detail of the display.
I fish the Chesapeake too, and either unit will serve you fine. There are a ton of the Lowrance units out there, and from what i've seen the Lowrance FF units work very well.
