Default Annapolis - Where to stay?

I am looking at staying in Annapolis in a couple of weeks for and afternoon/night on the way back north from Virginia. I have no idea what to expect for prices but would like a nice place. Also any suggestions for things to see or do would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Without knowing your budget I would recommend the Marriott. It's right in the thick of things. If you stay over a weekend when there is a Navy football game expect availability to be limited and rates to be higher.

Hope its not for either 8-12 or 15-18 October, those are the dates for huge boat show that's in town

Thanks for the help so far, it's actually for Tuesday the 20th. I looked at the Marriott and it looks like a great spot but seeing how brief the visit I'm not sure it's worth $175 more then a lot of the other places I've seen so far. Any smaller hotels worth looking at? Or B&Bs?

try o'callahan's. the rooms are a little smaller than the marriott and it's not on the water. clean, nice, basic hotel. we called and checked rates and were told like $199 or something crazy. went on hotels.com and got it for $125. that's probably the best you'll do for the historic district...even during the week.

this hotel "uptown", which is along west street off of chruch circle. you can still walk down to the waterfront easily (maybe a 10 minute walk on west st. to main st.) and there's some great restuarants along west street close to this hotel. try ram's head for upscale brew pub fare and tsunami for thai influenced seafood and sushi! best traditional sushi in town is joss on main st.

For B&B's check www.historicinnsofannapolis.com. They are all a couple of blocks from the city docks.
