Default Live Lining Spot

When live lining Spot, do you let it free spool, or set a light drag?

Thanks in advance

I let them out as far as I want them and then set a medium drag. I either watch the rod close or keep it in my hand. I like a little current or drift. Don't let them free spool.

You'll want to use a carolina or fish finder rig, so the fish don't feel the weight.

I use a circle hook with 5-6' of 30-40lb mono tied with a uni-to-uni knot to the main line. I add a rubber core sinker to the leader when I need more weight. I use rubber core because they're easy to add if I need to change the weight. I attach it to the leader so it will slide if somebody reels up to far. I use a long leader so I can keep cutting off pieces to keep it fresh throughout the day. Hook the spot in through the mouth, out through the nose. That keeps his head into the current so he won't get tired and spin.
