Random Quote: If....if if was a fifth, we'd all be drunk right now!
Nothing personnal, but Smoke got what he deserved...He may want to think so, but he will never be Dale Sr...
Should be interesting from here, Harvick is in a zone.
When did Tony say he thought he was Dale Sr? In my opinion he is a better driver than Dale Sr. The guy can drive anything not only a cup car. I would have loved to see how Dale Sr. would have done against this crop of young talented drivers with mega teams, and mega dollar sponsorships behind them. It's a differant world in cup now.

I don't think Smoke ever said he was Sr. He showed signs of Sr. in his outspokeness/criticizing of the sport though. See media here. Smoke even said he appreciated the old man for that. Sr. would have never been able to keep up with the technology coming in to the sport. Heck they have newer chassis designs coming out every 4-6 months. Even Jr. has had a hard time adapting to changing his driving style. Glad Jr. made it!!! Got to admit Sr. did more for the sport when Petty started fading like the birth of the mega teams/and sponsorships. 48 car is way over due for a DNF, based on odds. Race seemed dramatized IMO.Plug wire, trans slipping, brakes, hot rotors.....blah blah blah....Racing is losing its appeal by the day for this 20 plus year fan. Did anyone see the sign in the background during the prerace show on Speed? "48 sucks 24 Blows"...Was only up for a few minutes....

When Tony Stewart came to Nascar, I thought "One more big mouthed mid-western Yankee". As it turns out, Tony's a tough, hard driving, savvy driver who lets his driving do his talking for him. When Tony turned whimpy Kensah in the grass, I LMAO!
Tony's made several complimentary remarks about THE MAN. As a hardcore Sr. fan myself, I'll miss Tony in the chase.
The biggest story, IMO is the return of RICHARD CHILDRESS RACING.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important tha his own personal safetly, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of BETTER men than himself"

I stayed with the Goodwrench team, Childress and Kevin Harvick after Dale's death. It has been a rough road, even this year started out a little shaky, but actions speak louder than words, RCR is in your face with 2 cup contenders.
Kevin ( minus some major catastrophe) has the Busch championship locked up. My vote is that, it is time for the 29 to bring RCR back into the prize ring. Black is back baby..!!! My vote is that Kevin Harvick will win both championships this year.
HOOOOOOO YEAH baby.
Sentimental favorite: It would warm my heart to see Mark Martin win it, if anybody wins other than Kevin, I'd really like to see that, It would be quite emotional to say the least.

There will NEVER be another Dale Earnhardt. Simply ain't gonna happen. As for how well he would do with the new tech coming into the sport, I don't think it would be a problem. Remember the Bias ply tires? I believe he did pretty well on the new radial. I remember him being very instrumental in the development of the drop snout chassis ran by most everyone on the superspeedways and it was he who perfected the art of wheel camber on the short tracks way back when. Don't forget how smart Dale was when it came to setting up a race car nor overlook the fact that he adapted very well. It's up to the team to keep up with the new technical aspects but it's the driver that applies it to the track and there isn't, wasn't and ain't never gonna be another like Dale Earnhardt.
That said, I hate Tony didn't make the chase but solely from the aspect that he won't be able to defend his championship. I don't care for any of the Rousch drivers except Martin and I would love to see him do well but it ain't gonna happen. Johnson and Gordon have a fair shot and Burton HAS to finish what he's been starting somewhat better. I'd like to see Kasey do well but partly because a good friend of mine is dating his mother Tammy and Kyle Busch simply hasn't paid enough dues in my opinion to represent the sport as champion. My pick is Kevin Harvick. I was in Atlanta when he won his first race in Dales car and he has the same passion for winning as Dale himself had. If Jr. won, it wouldn't hurt my feelings either. Sorry for the long read.

Something isn't right at DEI. They don't seem to perform as they should. DEI had it all and lost it in restrictor plate racing. Don't misunderstand me, I would love to see DEI do great.
Here's a question...IF Dale Jr. could make it work contract wise, how many would like to see Jr. in a "Back In Black" RCR # 3 car, or Jr. (who already does ads for Wrangler) in a retro Blue-Yellow Wrangler Monte Carlo. ?
I'll be pulling for the 29 Goodwrench car (anyone notice the "3" on each side?). Richard Childress is tied with (I believe) Rouch and Hendrick with 6 championships each. Harvickcould break thetie, but 300+ points out?

Something aint right? Dale Jr. said a while ago that DEI was cheap. I would love to see Jr. go over to RCR. Not sure how many years he has left in his DEI contract he signed last year. I wanna say 2 more. I say Jr. w/ RCR in a retro #3 car is certainly a possibility.
Loved his quote last week about why drivers race......"We race because we are too lazy to work and too scared to steal"...... He shows more signs of his daddy every once in a while.

There are 2 drivers who deserve to be in the chase and 8 other guys who got spotted 350-450 points. Two of the eight drivers have 0 wins. With 10 guys going for the championship and 33 other guys trying to stay out their way it should make for some boring races.. The past few races have been pretty polite.
Great race....Matt Kenseth is a class act. He is going to be hard to beat. I am pulling for the 48 team. He has been close before he needs to close the deal. Good for Jeff Burton, good to see some revisit victory lane after a few years.
Glad for the Va boy to pull it out , and wether you like em or not, that was some helluva sportsmanship driving on both their parts, either one could have wrecked the other out at anytime. And I wouldn't mind seeing Jr drive a black 3 someday
