who ever found the boat, do they get to claim it????????????
I should not reply to this but here goes.....

You Azz monkey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have no regard for basic human life, the boat should returned as it was not ever abandoned. Reverse the situation, you have a 32 foot boat (not cheap) if it were you, what would you want done?

I'd give it back in a heartbeat! This guy has had a hard enough time as it is.
God is on his side. what side are you on!

Okay I gotta ask.
Doesn't the "finder" of the abandoned boat have to report in local madia before he can claim the rig.

Hold on..... before I'm beaten up, I would give it back...NO DOUGHT.

I've heard the finders, keepers boat deal before, just trying to find out if it's real.
You'd have to be BIG TIME sleezy to try to keep a dead mans boat.

Yes he should have had AT LEAST a kill sw. on.

Thank GOD he made it.

It was just a ????. I am on his side and the side of God. I, myself
has been in the water with no pfd and our 27' Wellcraft cudie at the bottom of the ocean(55") with no other boat in site, and my pregnent wife on shore with our first child. So there. I've been there. With the Lord of the great sea who looks out for those
of us who don't use good seamanship ALL the time.;

Ole Steve may consider changing his middle name to "knotso"

Kidding aside, he's one lucky mofo!

Guys, I really never considered what would happen trolling by myself and falling overboard until I found THT. I bought SOSupenders and a long lanyard. Life Raft and EPIRB doesn't do much good in the boat,( while I'm in the water... watching it from a distance)

Hat's off to the CG and other boaters!

we have been over this for days at work about this. i don't understand the whole offshore fishing by yourself thing now. it took this incident to open my eyes, but that is plain stupid. you can see it in his eyes on the tv interviews. what are you thinking leaving family at home to be a hero of the open ocean alone? ever heard of flounder fishing if you just have to wet your lines?

Hey man, no offense taken. It was the initial tone and the way the question was asked that riled me up. Sorry to hear you were in a similar situation, but glad it turned out OK for you. I would think the owner would want to offer some sort of reward to the folks who jumped aboard and took care of the boat for the guy. But i would have a hard time trying to claim it knowing what heppened. I have heard of yatch tenders that break loose and are found floating free, those are a different story. There was a post on NCW a while back about a skiff from that was found of our coast.
