Cedar Island

We're headed to Hatteras camping for a couple weeks in July with 17ft Sea Hunt CC. Am thinking of staying at the campground near the CI ferry a couple nights or so and fishing/boating in some relative peace and quiet before heading over to the big island. Any recommendations/experiences in this area much appreciated.
