I've been given a one day pass by the wife but need to stay close to the hill due to the impending arrival of #2. Tomorrow will be the day. Are there still decent kings on the beach? Last week there were reports of nice kings caught off of the Oak Is. piers. What about bait. Are the pogies here in good enough numbers not to have to burn $100 worth of gas to find them?

Anyway, we'll be somewhere between the Sherman and Yaupon, hopefully listening to a reel or two go off. "Mac Solo" vhf 16/69. Give us a shout if you're out there.

The piers on Oak Island decked 18 kings (biggest was 32 lbs) and a 63lb cobia this week. My father fished Yaupon pier 3 days this week and never saw the first sign of pogies on the beach, last time I was down we had to go up the river past Southport and found tons of them. If you end up at Oak Island switch to vhf 06 and make a "where's the bait" call, the guys around there are pretty good about answering. Have heard reports of lots of schoolie size kings from Lighthouse Rock all the way out to the sharkhole. Hope this helps.
