Default Beaufort --> Oriental via ICW

I plan on taking a trip to Oriental this weekend from Beaufort, is there anything I should know about the waterway when making the trip?

Thanks

Its an easy trip. The no wake zones in adam's creek are not official. You can run through that area if you want. Have fun.

I heard it takes about an hour, is this right? Is it easy to dock for lunch, or do I have to call ahead of time?

Thanks

That sounds about right on time. I've never docked up there. It might not be a bad idea to give them a call. Its a pretty trip.

they have a public dock that you can pull up to. All the way to the end of the bay next to the street. from the end of adams creek to oriental is pretty far and can be very rough. Most of the time its no problem but on a windy day it can be snotty.

What about the channel markers going into Oriental off the ICW? Are there any special considerations when turning off the ICW towards Oriental?

Thanks

when you leave adams creek you just head across to oriental. you can see the bridge and town in the distance. When you get close you will see markers that mark the entrace to the channel. The river is deep most places and there aren't a whole lot of markers.

Thanks, my other half has been wanting to visit there for some time, so I am taking her and the kids over. I myself stayed there a couple of years ago when I got my captains license. I remember looking out off the peer and seeing what I thought was Adams Creek, but wasn't sure what I was looking at.

Thanks again!
