Default uscg capt license

if you need to renew your USGC license, start very early.
I went to Charleston SC on March 28th and got my new license in the mail yesterday. You will be unable to operate under the license if it has expired.

I think there is a grace period
you have a one year grace period to RENEW your license after it expires, but you cannot take passengers for hire during that year. Once it expires, you're out of business till you renew.
