Planned on a trip out to the GS. Heading out of the marina on my friends 28 Carolina Classic and I look back and think "man, that disiel smoke looks a little darker than usual." It's my first time on this boat, so I figure it is normal. Make it to the intercoastal and the boat is just not going fast enough. When my friend decides to do an about face and head back to the dock... damn! probably another blown fuel injector.
So, my friend calls in a buddy of his, Bryan. Bryan, being a great guy swings by in a brand new, Litterally brand new!, 33 hyrdrasports with triple 250 yammies. Man what a sweet ride!!! The boat was amazing and comfortable with 7 people on board. We ended up leaving the marina around 6:30 and still beat the charter fleet to the grounds on what was a very dry ride.
We start just NE of the BR picking up a couple bailers, who were expertly brought in by Bryan's wife, on a small rip and weedline. The decision is made to head to some deeper water as we troll out to the 100 fathom line. Picking up a single here and there, I spot a gorgeous old, overgrown gill net floating in the water. Not 10 seconds after we swing by it... ping, ping.... ping ping, zzzzzz, zzzzz.

The 4 rigger lines, a short and the WWB fire off. Chinese fire drill!!! We ended up boating 4 gaffers and small wahoo. In the confusion, MOB was hit, but unknowingly the new system requires that enter/mark also be hit.

So we lost the floating net which would have absolutely filled the boat!!!!
So we spend the next hour or so trying to find our heaven, but no luck. We come across another small board and pick up another bailer. Then a weak weed line where we pick up a double that was followed by a school

spent half an hour or so picking at these guys with a couple break offs, some lost at the boat and a couple throw backs. Bryan hooks into a nice gaffer on light tackle, but after 30 min the line breaks at boat side
We trolled around, picking up one or two more before we decide to head in. from the 100 fathom plus line to the marina - we left at 3:15 and were back at the dock at 4:30. Man that is one SWEET! ride.
Final count was 14 dolphin and a wahoo. A few lost fish and a couple releases. It was a great time.
Bryan, thanks for letting Eddie, Phil and myself come along. We had a great time!
