You'll have several choices for offshore depending on the wind. The Nearshore Reef is just 3 miles off the end of the harbor jetties and can be quite productive for BSB, sharks, sheephead, and the occasional redfish. The Charleston 60 is about 12 miles out, is a larger and deeper reef, and yields the same but larger fish. If you can't get outside try fishing within the jetties that protect the entrance to the harbor. You never know what you'll catch. Use live bait which be purchased at many local tackle shops. A real good place to get the latest fishing news is www.charlestonfishing.com. I hope you enjoy your stay in our town. And please leave a lot of money behind!

Couldn't have said it better myself
You may also try the harbor for cobia and maybe some of the big reds may be showing up at The Griilage, and please do not ask on
www.charlestonfishing.com where the Grillage is cause you will get humiliated. It is a great area to fish and is where the jetties run under water from Sullivan's Island out to the main jetties and will produce bug reds, which are normaly over the slot limit.
You can also pick up some sharks and cobia there as well. Bati of choice will be menhaden(I think you northern brothers call them Bunkers(don't call them that on that site either).
They also have reef numbers posted for the reefs on that same web site and you can normally just read and find out what is going on but that bunch can be cruel to a newcomer asking reasonable questions sometimes
Good luck and let us know if you need anymore help
