Default Sea sick prevention

What's the favorite sea sickness prevention methods you guys recommend? Taking the kids offshore in a couple of weeks and want them to feel good. They've only been off once. They took dramamine and neither got sick but were drowsy all day from the dramamine. I've heard everything from pickled okra to bonine and dramamine. They're teenagers so pounding beers isn't an option!

I know some folks that get ginger chews at a vitamin shop and they swear they work for motion sickness. You might want to research it.

Default Mental

For most cases, sea sickness is 100% mental. But there are those people who get motion sickness in the back of a car, I believe they are out of luck

Bonine! Chew one or two (depending on the forecast) when they wake up... good news is you can pop another one or two several hours later if needed, but usually fine with the morning dose... no drowsiness or other side effects...
Always keep some ginger ale and saltines or pretzels on the boat...
Stay out of the cabin and turn off the phones and other electronics...

I know it is not supposed to, but the last time I took bonine I was verrrry drowsy. I took it only as a precaution since it was a rough day and a tournament, but I didn't get sick. But I was about to fall asleep at the wheel driving home.

I usually let the sick person drive the boat. This usually gets their mind off of it and helps them focus on the horizon. Usually works if you don't have any other alternatives.

The older I get the more apt I am to get sea sickness. Bonine is the best I have found, the night before and morning off as stated here. I have tried the compounded scopolamine pills and gotten sick 3 out of 3 on those but others swear by it.

one the night before and one in the morning usually works - or just drive the boat so you're in control and takes your mind off of it

Get the patch for the kiddos for sure. My wife and daughter took bonine the last time I took them out and they were both zombies all day.

For me it's an empty stomach, no meds at all. drink sprite and eat turkey and provolone cheese sandwiches when we get going. Also eat nabs. Sometimes it works and sometimes I hurl. Mostly I don't feel horable and after hurling i feel much better.
