Friend of a friend fished wednesday and said it was rougher than shit. He broke some welds on his t-top and a cooler lid. He caught 4 dolphin, didn't hear about the size.

Saturday is looking doable. The mosquito fleet will be out in force if thats the case,

We went yesterday in a friends 34 yellowfin and it was sporty heading out but that boat ate it up. He had fished all day Tuesday and only had 3 fish on the troll to show for it near Edisto Banks and the 226. Reports had been so hit or miss we decided to head where no one seems to be fishing, SW Banks. Lol we didn't find what we wanted so just decided to grind it on the bottom. Fished a variety of areas and got maybe 3 scamps, 1 gag, 3 queen triggers, misc other big triggers, and a ton of joltheads. Big sharks and AJ's and the other junk.

Highlight of the day was while on the way in we found a nice little rip on the ledge and put 2 dolphin in the boat. Looked at the sounder and "hey that bottom looks awesome!"

Threw on some pink shimano jigs and got jiggy with it. Got 2 scamps and the gag that way. Ride in was awesome on the Yellowfin and I was home by 9 with a nice cooler of bottom fish and a dolphin

I'll probably stick to ledge and in from now on and bottom fish. Spade trips too maybe.

Yesterday was worst day of fishing for us. Ran from jetties to 12 miles south of the Edisto Bank. Weatherman was wrong and very bad ride out. Nice ride in. Weeds scattered everywhere made it challenging. Finally found a school of dolphin under a patch of weed but they would not hit a trolled bait. Broke out the spinners and caught 1 slinger we threw back. The other spinner had recently been respooled at tackle shop and they put the line on backwards. Goodbye jig. Crew was great and never complained once but hated to put them through a bad ride in the morning and no fish

Default Miranda's Mahi Mahi Charleston, SC May 8, 2017

Video →

Full video of Miranda's dolphin. Headed out at 4:45am to smooth seas and a nice ride at 32 knots between 380-226 hole. Scattered weeds from 150 foot to 1,400 foot before you could get on the clean side of weeds. Decent mats out deep but a parking lot.. Caught 2 dolphin in 1,300 foot seen a blue crash the surface too. Not much radio chatter about catching any big numbers that I heard. Made the call to run north from there. Sat back down in 450ft. found a pallet and made the swing. Triple knock down all gaffers one probably pushing 40+ pounds. Caught 8 gaffers off the pallet! Lost 7 more and a few were very nice ones as well! Bite didn't pick up till 3:30. Pulled up at 5 and headed in at 28 knots with a good ride. Great trip with friends once again and another good b-day trip for Chippy! Ended the day with 10 dolphin. Had a bird join the crew for a free ride back in. Looked like it was flying for a year straight lol..

I went out this morning. Ended up being a beautiful day on lake Atlantic. Stopped to troll on the way out and landed a nice king. Ended up missing a sail and got into a blackfin bite. All in all a good day.
