I may go out Sunday out of Shallotte. Plan on going out 40-50 and doing some bottomfishing. The only forecast I would pay attention to is the one on the day before!

Going out Shallotte Sat. morning.......how far....depends on the weather and the "fetch"...probably no farther than the shark hole looking for Bonito...(or whatever !!)

I have cancelled my trip for this weekend. Just looks too cool and cloudy even if the waves and wind arent as bad as expected. May try again next week.

Looks like NE winds 10 - 15 knots seas 3 - 5 ft. I'm staying home. Better weather is just around the corner!

I second that Hal not worth the punishment. Seems as though the wind wait till the weekend to blow. Maybe all this waiting will pay off though and when we are relesed the fish will be right on top of us.

It actually turned out to be a nice day after all. Saturday should be perfect. Unfortunately I have to be home for my honeydo's. Trolled from noon to about 2:30 for spanish at 390/390, 392 Ledge, Christina with no takers. Settled for some undersized sea bass which got to live to grow a little more. Hey, that big gulp stuff actually works.

Same story here. Passed through the inlet at about 7:15 to check for birds working near the inlet. Made it about two miles out before I had confirmed that the seas were growing at a rate of 2 ft per mile of travel. By the time we were three miles out the six foot chop had me convinced that a u-turn was in order. During the turn a nice wall of bow spray blowing back over the boat had me laughing at my soaking wet dad.

Came in, switched to the 17 McKee and threw soft plastics all day. Wound up with a nice flattie and a few missed strikes. The wind was so bad that it was almost impossible to fish on the inside.

Still havent been out in my boat this year! Looks like this weekend is shaping up to be a repeat. We are in a cycle of waves and wind on weekends that hopefully will be changing soon. At least the gas prices havent affected my boating habits yet!

My God when are we going to chatch a break? What I would do for about a week of dominant high pressure. Yep I think you are right this weekend is setting up to be anouther blow out. I am tired of getting ready about mid week just to get shut out come friday afternoon when that ever dreaded small craft advisory is issued. I think I am going to sell my outboards and invest in a pole and sail for my boat, "would be cheaper on gas".

Will,

I know what you mean about the gas. Friday afternoon I put in 75 gal of regular at Holden Beach Marina @ $3.389/gal = $254.18. Can't imagine what a trip out to the BlackJack or Steeples will cost. Probably around $500.

Hal,

Have you had any luck figuring out the 7000 yet??? How do you like the PC Planner? I am planning on getting it sooner or later.

Hal I see you are from my neck of the woods Lumberton. So how do you like that Kencraft. From what I have heard they are one sweat ride.

Old Monitor, thanks for the tip. Its even cheaper at OIFC. When are you heading out again? I'll be fishing May 11th thru 14th.

Matt, the C-Map works fine. You can use mine. Having a bit of trouble with the 7000. Need your help figuring some things out. Wish I had gone with Garmin 3206 and seperate plotter but thats water over the dam now.

Willtalton, are you in or near Lumberton? We'll have to get together. Yes , I like the Kencraft but the Merc EFI's are very thirsty. Love the power but gonna have to lay off the throttle with these gas prices.

Hey is it just me that gets the impression that the national weather service doesnt have a clue what to forcast for this weekend? 2-4 I hate that forecast that is like saying lets set on the fence so we can jump off either way friday and not look like complete morons. I want to go but I kinda want it to give me an excuse not to go , thinking of riding down to Gorgetown and looking at a Robolo for sale.
