Default Place to Stay at OBX

I was recently down at OBX for a few days. We stayed at theRamada on the beach in Kitty Hawk. It was pretty good, convenientto a lot, and I would recommend it if you need a place to stay.

Frank,

Common now, you can not say that the Ramada Inn is a NICE PLACE to stay. I had a buddy who just moved down here and he figured the Ramada was the best place to put his parents up for a weekend, they got here and the PLACE IS A DUMP!! If you need a place to stay on the oceanfront in KDH the BEST and ONLY place worth the money (not very expensive, same as Ramada) is the Colony IV by the Sea. It has just been completly remodeled, A+++++

Gotta agree with ECMatt90, The Colony IV is a real nice place, completely remodeled, with indoor, outdoor pools, on the oceanfront, much better than the Ramada. Course, the new Hilton Garden Inn is opening in the summer, and that looks to be a nice place too, but the Colony is awesome, never crowded, and has boat friendly parking during the offseason months. Within walking distance of a few nice restaurants also. They also have a fish cleaning station and oceanfront gazebo.

Last summer during the hurricane ophelia scare, Jim Cantore did his live broadcasts there, as the scenery was better for the money shot, also a lot less locals around.

Sounds like I should have asked you guys first. I didn't say it was nice, only that it was pretty good - adequate and clean, particularly for $75/night on the road side.

The two rooms I saw in the Ramada were fine and clean. The lobby and hallways likewise were clean, and the parrot in the lobby was a hit. We just slept there and were out and about during the days. As I said, it was pretty good. I have stayed in a lot of hotels (unfortunately), and it was pretty comparable to other lower-mid-tier hotels.

I just posted this so someone going there had some choices based on the experiences of others.

Alvis,

You were asking about the rates for the Colony IV in the Summer. They have a range of prices due to location along with what floor you are on. Please find included a link to their website, this will answer yours and everyone elses questions.

I also must agree with Blueh20pc - The Hilton does look like it's going to be real nice. Being a member of the Chamber I saw that they are having one of the next Chamber mixers at the Hilton, figured I may want to attend that one to check it out. Also, I read in the paper, that the Hilton is possibly planning on reopening the pier in the next year or so. Also read that there are possible plans to make an outside bar / entertainment area like a Quags. It would be nice to have an oceanfront venue back on this beach!

That would make my day!!!!
