Default TrollnHeel's First Solo Mission

That's right.

I let him take the boat today, solo, for the first time.

He sent me a text message that said "Launch Complete," so that means he is fishin'.

I am sure he will give us an update when he returns.

Just sent me a text message, lost a good fish at the boat.

I guess he now appreciates how hard it is to slow troll "solo": steer the boat, fight the fish, net the fish.....

I am a little nervous, but he'll be okay.

He's got years of training and a good head on his shoulders, most of the time anyways.

I'll feel better when I get a text that says "Boats in the garage, thanks dad, on my way to Myrtle now."

lol, boats in the garage, no scrathces on her, means no scratches on my a$$. Lost 1 good fish right at the boat, caught my first one around 1230. Spot's right, its hard to drive the boat, fight the fish, and net the fish. Its fun tho!! Lost a hawg right at 130 and thats all she wrote. I am a lucky kid to have a father let me take his boat out. Good times

And a lucky one. I was in the same position fourteen years ago. My dad used to take me to the boat ramp and drop me off at sunrise, return at sunset. This was before I even had a drivers license. Lake Chesdin, outside of Petersburg, Virginia.

Fourteen years later I am beginning to tear apart the same boat that I used then, the "Original Sin" in my signature below, for a rebuild and repower so that someday I will be able to do the same for the shorty checking out his feet down below.

Make sure you give your dad a hug when you see him again Troll.....

And BTW HOTSPOT, the best thing I have read on THT in the year I've been hooked on this site is the line in your signature. "Do yourself a favor, take a kid fishing." That really puts things in prespective for me.

Good jog TrollnHeel. We all know Hotspot was pacing the floor and looking out the windows.

You are right about trying fishing solo. I do it a lot of times with live bait which is easy but when I start pulling jigs and umbrella rigs it is work, but fun work.

Don't feel bad I have lost many a fish right at the boat while fishing alone and I am sure I will loose some more.

Looking forward to Tuesday-rest of week. I finish up in my office on Monday(Tax Season) and I have taken the rest of the mornings off this week to hit the water and looking for that elusive 40lb linesider

Good job Let me know if the striper bite is so hot you can't handle it by yourself, and we'll make a weekend of it.

You got it Smurf!! From what I was told, Jordan this past weekend was on fire! A lot of fish was caught at the tournament. I'm thinking about going next Tuesday......just need to save up money to put gas in the boat, only if its cool with Dad first tho.
