Default Swansboro No Wake Zone?

Thumbing through the "N.C. Boating Lifestyle" magazine (unsure how I started receiving this as I never subscribed) and saw a quote by the owner of the Waterway Inn in Cape Carteret. His statement was that "legislation had just been passed" that would put in place a "No Wake" zone from the Emerald Isle Bridge to Dudley's Marina. I have a boat at Dudley's, a house at Emerald Isle, and have been boating this area for over 20 years now. I try and keep up with the local news as best I can from friends living full time there and checking the local papers. This is the first I've heard of this. Anyone have any solid info or is this just wishful thinking?
That would be an awfully long stretch to idle along.

Haven't heard about it myself.....kills me all this no wake stuff. I have a guy around the corner from me with a huge Wake? sign ( read like the milk? adds)....building a house on the ICW and ranting about wake is like building right on I-95 and saying the speed limit should be 25mph. Every Tom Dick and Harry from Beaufort to Wilmington thinks they can buy a no wake buoy and control the waterway.....its THE intracoastal thoroughfare for gosh sakes and was long before we all started putting houses on it.

I had heard nothing either and that's why I asked if anyone else knew anything more concrete or if it was just wishful thinking on the part of business owner. I remember when that stretch had nothing between the public ramp and the bridge. The Flying Bridge restaurant was there and "Tommy's" campground if my memory serves me. Now all of these folks have built houses and docks and planted "No wake" signs. Near the ramp and Marina makes sense but building a house and dock on the intercoastal and then complaining about boat wakes is like the morons who buy houses near airports and then complain about the noise and want the airports shut down. What for years has been a beautiful stretch of water may be going the way of the intercoastal in Florida if enough people with too much money and a politician or two in their pockets get their way. Then again as this has not been reliably confirmed maybe it's just unfounded fear.

I don't know about the no wake deal. But If you have bought a new boat from a dealer in NC I think you get that Magazine. I know I started getting after I bought my boat.
