Jordan Stripers - rookie needs help - The Hull Truth

Hope everyone is having a nice holiday.

Can anyone give me some advice? I would like to get more into fishing the lakes around here when I can't get to the coast. I heard this time of year is good for stripers at Jordan.

I have Monday off and a buddy and I were thinking about giving it a try. He said he had heard that trolling bucktails works well. A guy I work with swears by drifting live shad.

I went once before, armed with little knowledge, and caught little fish.

Can anyone give me a few pointers to get started? Where is a good spot this time of year? Live or artificial? Depth?

You are almost wasting your time going to Jordan right now. No fish have been caught to speak of in the last week or so. I have many friends that have gone out in the last 3 days with no luck at all.

The water temp dropped really fast and all the fish and bait are on the bottom.

I am going to Norman tomorrow if that tells you anything.

Buggs has also been somewhat "off" for this time of year.

The crappie have been biting good at Jordan, in the White Oak Creek area.

Murray would be a great choice, but it is along haul.

43 degrees ain't good. If you see it hit 45, go out in the main lake and run the New Hope channel 15 to 18 feet down, white and chartreuse bucktails with 2 to 3 inch matching trailers between 1.8 and 2 mph.

Thanks for all the information HOTSPOT. Maybe we'll put it off for a little while. Do you know if Falls is worthwhile this time of year for anything? It's much closer to me than Jordan. We tried for crappie a few weeks ago and didn't do too well. I don't have a trolling motor, so it's either anchored up or trolling with the big motor for me.
