Default swimming and anchoring sites

I know it's cold out there but where are there good swimming and anchoring over nite in the new river inlet to masonboro inlet area. I am new to the area and i dock in harbor village marina which is about 96 mm on the ICW. I go up and down and have anchored in banks channel by masonboro but would like other sites and suggestions. All help is appreciated.

We have overnighted just south of the masonbore inlet by masonboreo island. Heading south there is 6-8 ft water on the left. water flows kind of fast but we never had problem overnight.

You can overnight in Banks Channel at Wrightsville (just south of the drawbridge), take the port bouys and follow into Banks Channel. If you want to go further south, go to Carolina Beach and throw anchor in the basin just to the south of the "no wake' Zone at Snows Cut.

If you want to be away from everyone go behind Masonboro Island. If you would like to go out to eat or be able to get to a store I would go to Banks Channel or Carolina Beach harbor.

Other boaters at your marina would be a good source of information on anchoring and swimming spots.

Another resource is this book:

"Cruising Guide to Coastal North Carolina" by Claiborne S. Young. You should be able to find it at your local marine retailer of from on-line book stores such as amazon.com.

Libra is correct on this one ,we stay in the corner of the basin just where he is talking about and almost every morning we get up there is at least 2-3 boats that are there every morning during the summer. Very good spot to swim and fish ,some good flounder have been taken from this little spot.
