Default Beaufort bluefin 20051210

After hearing the positive reports from Wed & Thu I drove down for Sat. Fished the western side, started at the Trawler, fished out to NW Places, Little 10, Big 10, over to the Slot, back to the Trawler and picked up at the Barge. Caught one little tunny and a gannet. Released them both.

No one on the radio admitted to seeing or catching any fish.

Guess the wind on Friday ran them off?

I was right there with you on Saturday. We worked the Trawler, Shad Boat, and the Knuckle. We Started at about 6:00AM and had enough by about 12:30pm. I could not believe how quiet the radio was. I never heard a single fish get caught. I would have settled for the Gannet or the little tunny though. You had two more stikes than I. We were fishing on a Yellow 27 Jupiter, Yellow Dog. It was a nice day though.

Maybe next time.

Just got word from the family boat in Beaufort...the bluefin are here! Reveler II is on the way to market with one on deck Voice mail was not very clear but we think it's 92". The report is there was no bite all morning then all at once the fleet was hooked up...some with doubles. Too bad I'm stuck in Raleigh at the office job.

On another note the stripers are thick at Oregon Inlet. Yesterday was flat and even being a rookie at striper fishing I came back with 80+ pounds in 4 fish. 3 anglers on board and could have limited out had I switched baits sooner. Nothing on Mann's Stretch of any depth or size...only on slow trolled (1-2 knots) storm WildEyes - chartruse was hottest but other colors worked too.

Tight lines!
