We hit the water at 5:15 this morning with a little weather lurking offshore so we hung around and listened to the radio chater before we made a a decision to head out. Needless to say the inlet was very choppy and very close together so we took our time and made it out safley and started trolling at the 90ft mark on a hard bottom.
Before we had our second line out we had our first fish on. Hoping for a Dolphin but the feel was King. Fish to the boat King it was.
We had a feeling it was going to be a king day. Put two rods out and had another on. King again! Then a double one king one barracuda. It went on like this till we headed for the hill. We ended the day with one Dolphin in the box, 10 released Kings, Kept two more kings, three or four Cuddas, had numerous short strikes and went through 3doz Ballyhoo (one King shark attack was fun while it lasted head only) And something Hit my downrigger ball and cut it like a pair of wire cutters.
(Note to self take of all flashy stickers off Pancake downrigger weights.)
All in all a slow Dolphin day but lots of action!!Back to the hill by 2:00pm.
