Drum Inlet

Made the short trek up to Atlantic to fish Drum inlet sat. The way from the marina to the inlet has changed a lot since I was last up there. Took my Dad, son, and alex ( grandson of fishing buddy).
We had Spro jigs and gulp shrimp plus we cast netted a livewell full of minnows.
Lets just say that it was a fun trip but the flounder fishing was awful. wound up with two short flounder and six bluefish. We fished about six or seven hours.

The inlet has three bars now and is fairly treacherous if there is any kind of swell. It was real calm sat. and there were still some 5 to 7 ft' swells roliing in when you were out the inlet 1/4 to 1/2 mile!:o

Talked to a few other fishermen and they were having the same results, Oh well I'll try it again soon.......

Take the skiff or Grady out? I am heading back up there in a couple weeks.

We took the skiff. I really like fishing up there, usually not crowded at all and the fishing is really good. I'm gonna blame our poor day on the east wind........
Lots of skinny water , but with good sunglasses it's very manageable.

I hope the couple of boats I showed to the inlet this past weekend didn't have any trouble the rest of the weekend. It shifts slightly from week to week but so far this year it has stayed fairly consistant. I always go slow going out in the morning to be sure, then run in that afternoon on plain.
