The ramp(s) on the Trent is in Lawson's Creek Park and I have used it many times. There are two ramp locations in the park. The first is on the left across from the soccer field just as you come into the park and the second is right on the river (stay straight). The park closes at 11pm (locked gates). Police patrol the park frequently.
The Wildlife ramp in Bridgeton is Ok as long as the wind stays down. If you do use this one be careful, there are submerged stumps. I usually head straight out from the ramp and do ok. I would be a bit concerned about leaving anything overnight there however.
I have used the ramp to the left as you enter the park for my 24 Albemarle and 18 Hydra Sports before. It is a nice steep ramp. Put in a friends flats boat at the one if you stay straight. Wouldn't want to put much bigger in there although I see bigger boats put in at that one as I cross the bridge.
Thanks Dennis & Trey!
Lawson's Creek sounds like a viable option, and I think I will avoid the WL ramp at all costs
Additional question: how are the ramps at Union Point Park, and would that be a safe place to leave vehicle and trailer overnight?
Background - I will be attending a party with a bunch of RVer friends at the KOA at Bridgeton on Saturday and I'm thinking about bringing the boat for the day/night instead of a hotel room.
The KOA folks are adamant that they will NOT rent dockage for the night under any circumstances (want to keep the slips open for campers, I guess), so I am looking at all potential options...figure I can reserve a slip for one night in one of the marinas close to Lawsons/Union Pt.......
I have never used the ramp at Union Point but it does not have much dockspace(or any dockspace) for launching and retrieving. Lawsons Creek ramps all seem to be fine. I usually use one of the ramps on the left as you drive in rather than the ones below the bridge. Nice ramp for launching/retrieving by yourself due to the long docks adjacent to each ramp. Just watch the cans out and steer clear of the blowboats. I have seen a few trucks parked for a night or more right under the bridge without any apparent incident.
Just have one of your friends that is staying at the park reserve the dock space at the KOA. You should be able to get dockage at the Sheraton or Bridgepoint Ramada without any problem though. Have fun.
I have a Sea Hunt Victory 215 and couldn't get mine down the ramp. The incline was too great and my trailer would drag. I pull with a 2X4 Suburban. I've thought about putting some air shocks on to lift it more

That suprises me if you are talking about the Lawson Creek ramps. Is your hitch a drop hitch? Maybe you could turn it over and give the tongue a little more lift.
2020is,
Not sure the name of the ramp. Its the one you see coming over the bridges to the right as you head West on Hwy70 to Kinston.
I had thought I could back in on the way home from the beach for a fresh water rinse of the trailer occassionally.
I did turn the hitch over to get more clearance but the trailer bumps the top of the ramp about 4-5 feet from the hitch so it would drag a bit before getting into the water.
There was a guy at the ramp, said he was from New Bern and had never seen this problem before.
Are there any other good ramps in the area? I've always wanted to put in at New Bern and take the trip to Oriental.

All someone has to do is look at the concrete on the ramp to tell its too steep. It's all carved up. I launched there without hitting but when I went to load the trailer angle made it hard to load. The other ramp is more gradual.
If you go straight through the park (Lawson) instead of taking a left there is a ramp that isn't as steep. Its the one you can see going west on 70.
The ones to the left are ok when the water is way down but the other is better if the water is normal. The problem with the steep ramps are your vehicle isn't on the same incline that the trailer is. It's like backing your trailer into a ditch.
